Bluetooth Headset Not Playing Music and/or Calls

Updated by Hayden Everly on Sep 4, 2023

When using a Bluetooth headset with your phone, make sure the device in the Bluetooth settings is connected for both “call audio” and “media audio."

Note: Leitner wireless headsets don't have a media audio connection. They won't play music from a cell phone on the Bluetooth setting.

Android (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) Bluetooth Settings:

  1. Go to Settings >> Connections >> Bluetooth
  2. Tap on the gear cog to the right of your Bluetooth device
  3. Make sure both Call and Media audio are turned on
  4. Your headset will now work with your Android phone for both calls and music audio

iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings >> Bluetooth >> My Devices
  2. Click on your Bluetooth device then select the info iconicon next to it
  3. Click on Device Type and select Headphone
  4. Your headset should now work for both calls and music audio

Other Troubleshooting:

If your headset still isn't working properly, try these tools:

  • Toggle the Bluetooth setting off, then back on again.
  • Go to your Bluetooth settings and forget the headset device ("Forget this device" on iPhone and the "Forget" icon on Android)
  • Re-pair the headset to your phone
  • Restart your phone by turning it all the way off, then back on again

I’m able to play music via the Bluetooth in my car but not phone calls with my new Motorola G-13 phone that I got on Sunday, can you please explain to me why that is please?

This sounds like there may be a setting in your new Motorola phone to adjust. Or, there may even be something in the Bluetooth settings in your car that may need to be changed. We’d recommend first reaching out to Motorola to see if they have a solution. They will most likely know where the issue is coming from.

None of these worked. At all. And my headphones on android ONLY play my music when I’m on a call but as soon as call ends music is no longer coming through headphones DESPITE the connection setting being set for calls AND audio and saying it’s connected.

We’d recommend contacting the seller of your headphones to see if they know of a reset specific to their product or to check on your warranty status.

Hopefully they can get this resolved for you!
