Special EHS Setup For Cisco Phones

With most phones, you can change the settings for EHS (Electronic Hookswitch) on the phone itself. However, for certain phones, such as the Cisco phones listed below, you will need to go into the internet to change them.

Changing the settings in Cisco 7900 Series Phones

Your IT personnel can refer to the below instructions in order to enable the wireless hookswitch control feature on the below Cisco phones using the CUCM.

7942G, 7945G, 7962G, 7965G, 7975G, 7821, 7841, 7861

CUCM - Cisco Unified Communications Manager, formerly known as Cisco Unified CallManager Below are the instructions to enable EHS feature:

  • Make sure the CUCM version is 4.1(3)SR5x or higher
  • Make sure the phone F/W is 8.3(3)x or higher
  • Access the server administrator with a browser
  • Select Device > Phone through the drop-down menus
  • Click "Find" with no selection criteria to obtain a list of all phones
  • Open the desired phone.  Scroll down to "Wireless Headset Hookswitch Control", set to "Enabled", Click "Apply"
  • Reset the phone

NOTE: If you do not have the login information for the CUCM, you will not be able to change these settings. Sorry!
