Beeps And Tones - Sennheiser Wireless Headsets

Updated by Hayden Everly on May 3, 2024

Wondering what the heck all those beeps in your Sennheiser OfficeRunner headset mean? Here's a handy article to show you what's what!

Note: These beeps and tones also go for the DW Pro 1 and 2, and the DW Office ML!

OfficeRunner wireless headset from Headsets.com

The OfficeRunner makes 2 kinds of noises: beeps and chimes.

  • A beep is a short high-pitched “Beep!” or lower-toned “boop”
  • A chime sounds like synthetic bells

You will only hear chimes when you're getting a call via ring detection! You need a lifter or an EHS cable to get chimes.

  • If you need help choosing between a lifter and an EHS, please give us a call at 1-800-432-3738! We can let you know what you'd need!
  • If your headset is chiming when there is no call coming in, see this article or give us a call. This is also a problem that we can help with!

Volume Adjustment Sounds
  • Volume Up: Higher-toned short beep
  • Volume Down: Lower-toned short boop
  • Mute On: Higher beep followed by Lower boop (BEE-boop)
  • Mute Off: Lower boop followed by Higher beep (boo-beep)
  • Headset is muted (older models): Constant low boop
  • Max Volume: Rapid double-beep
  • Min Volume: Rapid double-boop

These sounds are exactly the same when the OfficeRunner is OFF and you're turning up or down your notification sounds!

Out of Range

When you get out of range, you'll hear a descending sequence of beeps (going from higher tone to lower). You then have 60 seconds to get back in range of the charging base before it disconnects.

Battery Beeps

When your battery is near death you'll hear 3 rapid high beeps. You'll keep hearing this to warn you of imminent battery depletion until the headset shuts itself off.

On/Off
  • Turning Headset On: 1 high beep
  • Turning Headset Off: 1 low boop

Training

When you connect headsets for training, the primary headset will hear a series of three lower tones. Once the primary headset wearer presses its button, the secondary headset will hear a high-pitched short beep!

Think It’s Time For A New Headset?

Many Sennheiser Customers have upgraded to the new Leitner LH670. It connects to telephones and computers, just like the OfficeRunner, but it also includes a Bluetooth mode for a connection to cell phones!

You can reprogram your Sennheiser lifter’s ring tone using the instructions found here:

Is there a way to turn off or mute the docking station dinging, so it only rings in my headset on EPOS 800 BTD?

Headset Answers replied:
It appears that your docking station has a link to the headset or softphone to create this sound. What we’d recommend is to bypass that by pulling the Sennheiser dongle you have directly into your computer or laptop. This should stop the docking station from dinging.

If it doesn’t, we’d recommend reaching out to Sennheiser for further assistance. They may have some instructions or software that might help with this. They’re at 1-877-736-6434.

At home is where I charge my work headset. Recently (the last two weeks) my work headset is beeping every time my husbands cell phone rings.

Not my cell phone. My husbands. Why? And how do we stop this? There is no connection between this work headset and either one of our cell phones. This is my work headset that I use in the office and it connects to my work computer to answer phone calls (at work).

Here is info on headset and base:

While we don’t carry this specific model of Sennheiser headset, it seems like your headset somehow got connected to your husband’s cell phone. What we’d suggest is having him go into his Bluetooth settings on his phone and delete any Sennheiser headset that appears there. This should hopefully solve the issue.

If it doesn’t or if you have any other questions about your Sennheiser headset, you can reach out to Sennheiser directly at 1-877-736-6434. They should be able to help you further.
