Jabra Wireless Headset Not Providing Ring Detection

Updated by Kamika Royal on Mar 8, 2024

Note: We don’t carry this item, so our knowledge on it is limited to the content of this article. Hope this gets you what you need!

If your Jabra wireless headset isn't alerting you when your phone rings, it usually means either the handset lifter's microphone is not over the speaker, the ring sensor is off, or the ringer sensitivity control is turned down. Here's how to check on all three of these things:

Getting Your Call Notifications Back

  1. First, check to make sure the speaker on the phone is directly underneath the lifter so that it can hear the phone ringing. Try repositioning the sensor by sliding the knob on the lifter up and down. If it still is not over the speaker, then you must use the external ring detector mic. This is the small circle on a cord that came with your lifter. This plugs into the back of the lifter and then the circle part sticks down to the phone's speaker to provide ring detection.
  2. Next, check to make sure the ring sensor is not off. You can tell if the ring sensor is off by checking the indicator light on top of the lifter. If the light is flashing, this means the ring sensor is OFF (the lifter arm must be in the down position to check this, so the headset itself must be turned off before you can proceed). Turn the sensor on by pressing the on/off button, the light should stop flashing when you do so.
  3. Finally check to make sure the ringer sensitivity control is turned down. If the ring sensor is ON (meaning no red light is flashing when the lifter is in the down position) and there is still no ring then you should adjust the ringer sensitivity knob. This is the knob on the back of the lifter with a picture of an arrow going around it.
Turn the knob towards the arrow to increase the sensitivity, making it more likely for the alerts to reach your Jabra headset.

Almost all office phones have different ringers! If the RHL1000 Jabra Handset Lifter is not detecting an incoming call, even when you are using the ring detector, the specific ringtone being used can be the culprit! It can usually be changed. To find out how, take a look at your telephone's manual. You can also try cleaning the speaker and the underside of the RHL1000 handset lifter(where the microphone is located) with a can of compressed air. This may also help get your ring tone back!

Generally, Jabra headsets (and all wireless headsets) require either a hookswitch cable or a lifter to provide ring detection for desk phones. If you’d like to know which one you’d need, just reach out to Jabra with your telephone information and they can let you know. They’re at 1-866-697-8757.

We do not carry the Jabra 65 headset, so we’re unsure if your Jabra 65 should have ring detection with your set-up. For help with your headset, you can reach out to Jabra directly at 1-866-697-8757. Hopefully they can get your ring tone up and running!
