About Leitner Battery Life

Updated on Jul 19, 2024

Both Leitner Premium Lite batteries and Leitner Premium Plus/Dongle headset batteries have 5-8 hours of talk time per charge. As for the life of the battery, you can expect 2-3 years of service before it needs to be replaced.

Things that can affect battery life:

  • Distance - The further you get away from the headset base, the more power the headset will need to use to remain connected. If you spend most of your day 100 feet away from your phone, you may experience lower-than-normal battery life.

  • Volume - The louder your headset, the more power it will draw when being used. Louder microphones and speakers require more electricity, so if you need some extra juice consider turning it down.

  • Age of the battery - The longer you hold on to the battery, the lower the life of each charge. Even after a year of use, you may notice some reduced battery life. An older battery will often take longer to charge fully as well. Once it gets to this point and you are only getting an hour or two of talk time, it is time to replace it.

  • Leaving it turned on - To extend your battery life, it is best to leave it turned off between calls to conserve power. Luckily the power button is within arm's reach!

  • Temperature - In most cases, you won't have to worry about this, as offices have heaters. But in case you work in an environment where the batteries will be making extended contact with cold, freezing weather, it can affect battery life. It's chemistry, unfortunately.

I’ve noticed my LH470 headset battery drains after a couple of days even if the headset is turned off after use. Does the usb dongle need to be unplugged to prevent this? Or should the headset always be plugged into the charger when not in use?

We recommend that your Leitner LH470 stay plugged in when not in use, just to make sure the battery stays charged. If you can’t leave it plugged in, please unplug the USB dongle so that the headset isn’t sending information back and forth. This could cause the battery to drain over a few days.

Do the battery lights on the base go out if a new battery is fully charged ?

Headset Answers replied:
If you are using an LH200 or 300 series headset, the battery lights on the left should stay lit once fully charged. There is also a set of lights on the right side of the base. If you put the headset on the charger, you will see the 1st and 4th light. But once the headset is fully charged, that 4th light will go out.

If your battery lights are disappearing, let us know here or give us a call at 800-432-3738 to get that fixed up for you!
