What is a Bluetooth Dongle and Where does it Plug in? Can I Use it for Speech Recognition?

Updated by Hayden Everly on Mar 1, 2024

Despite its funny name, a Bluetooth Dongle is a cool tool that gives computers without a Bluetooth chip the capability to use Bluetooth devices.

Standard Bluetooth USB dongle for Bluetooth headsets

It plugs into your computer’s USB.

Technically you can use a dongle for speech recognition, BUT we do not recommended this because the speech detection error rate will be higher. Corded computer headsets or wireless DECT headsets are recommended for Voice Recognition applications.
