Troubleshooting No Mic Audio in RingCentral

Is your headset's microphone not working in RingCentral? Here's some troubleshooting you can try!

Note: Before you jump into this, make sure you've set your headset as the default audio device in RingCentral. To do this, check out this article!

Check the RingCentral settings

This will keep RingCentral from changing your mic settings without your knowledge.

  1. Click the settings button (looks like a gear, or a spikey circle)
  2. In the sound section, disable "Automatically adjust microphone settings" (see image below)

Check the Windows PC settings

Windows also has a few settings we can check out for this issue.

If this was already set up or the problem continues, try this:

  1. Right-click on the speaker in the bottom right corner of your screen and select "Sounds"
    If you don't see this option, select "Open Sound Settings", then scroll to the right of the screen and select "Sound Control Panel"
  2. Select the "Communications" tab and select "Do nothing", then click OK

This will prevent RingCentral from changing the audio settings of your computer without your knowledge.

Check the Windows privacy settings

If you still can't get the microphone to work, it could be the privacy settings for the microphone! Here is how you check/change it.

  1. Go to the bottom left corner of your computer screen in the type-to-search section
  2. Type in "microphone privacy setting" and then select it when it comes up
  3. Make sure the button under "Allow apps to access your microphone" is set to ON
  4. You can also enable/disable specific apps, but your RingCentral one most likely won't appear in that list

If you're still having issues, then we'd recommend reaching out to your IT Team so they can check the advanced settings in Ring Central.
