Well well well, that’s a sticky situation. The EHS for some brands (so far Polycom) will cause the primary headset to hang up on the last step of training when you’re supposed to hit the on/off button to pair the headsets together.
If this happens, you’ll need to use the permanent registration steps to pair the headsets. They’ll then need to resync the 2nd headset back to its base when training time is over.
Bonus! You can leave them this way overnight if you’re training for multiple days. Putting the 2nd headset back on its base to charge won’t unpair them. Pretty sweet if you’re doing a full week or several days worth of training!
To register a 2nd permanent headset, do this:
1) On the underside of the base, press and hold the Volume Up button for about 5 seconds to enter registration mode.
2) On the Headset 2, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds to enter registration mode.
3) Sit the 2nd headset in the primary base for about 30 seconds. The 2nd headset will now be registered to the base.
To register a 3rd permanent headset, do this:
1) On the underside of the base, press and hold the Volume Down button for about 5 seconds to enter registration mode.
2) On the Headset 3, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds to enter registration mode.
3) Sit the 2nd headset IN the primary base for about 30 seconds. The 3rd headset will now be registered to the base.
Please note: the first headset to be turned on will be the primary headset. All the other headsets can join and leave the call by pressing their headset buttons, but they will not have call control.
To register the 2nd or 3rd headset back to its original base:
1) On the top of the 2nd headset’s original base, hold down the telephone button until the light starts to blink.
2) On the 2nd headset, hold down the mute button on the headset until that light starts to blink. The mute button is the grey button with the dot on it between the plus and minus buttons.
3) Once it’s blinking, place the headset next to the base (not IN the base) and wait until the light on the headset goes out and the telephone light goes solid. Your headset is now registered back to its base.
