ORL12/HSL10 Ring Detection Programming Instructions

Updated by Kamika Royal on Feb 7, 2024

Programming ring detection allows your headset to chime in your ear when you've got an incoming call. If your headset used to chime but isn't chiming anymore OR if it's chiming all the time even with no call coming in, these steps will fix it!

How to program ring detection:

If you're a visual learner, click here to view a video on how to set it up.

  1. Start in a quiet environment. This allows the recording process to only catch the ring tone and no other background noise.
  2. With another phone, call the phone the lifter is attached to.
  3. When the phone begins to ring, press and hold the P1 button on the lifter until it blinks blue. (Blue light means the ring detection process has begun).
    1. You can also hold down P2 and wait for the light to flash red instead. Use P2 if you need to program a 2nd ring tone or if using P1 is not working.
  4. Allow the phone to ring out loud 4 - 6 times and then disconnect the call. You may see the light on the lifter flash red (this lets us know the ringtone has been recorded successfully).
    1. If using P2, the light will flash blue when recording is successful.
  5. Place a test call and hear the chime!

Tips:
  • Make sure the ringer is mid-high volume so it's easier to program.
  • On the bottom of the lifter, there’s a microphone embedded that’s covered with a white round sticker, remove the sticker if setting it up for the first time.

If you are hearing the chime, but it is simply too soft, check out our article on increasing the ring detection volume in your Sennheiser lifter.
